"Service users demonstrate positive progress"
Common Induction Standards
Our commitment to support staff starts with an intensive induction programme during the first two weeks of employment. Part of this induction requires new employees to complete the ‘Skills for Care’ Common Induction Standards, which are designed for people entering adult social care. The 12-week CIS induction period enables care workers to give high quality care and support, receive recognition for their work, and prepare them for entry onto NVQ health and social care programmes.
There are 6 standards and each one requires staff to demonstrate competence and an understanding of the following areas; (1) Understand the principles of care; (2) Understand the organisation and the role of the worker; (3) Maintain safety at work; (4) Communicate effectively; (5) Recognise and respond to abuse and neglect; and (6) Develop as worker.
