"High quality settings, focused on creating the best therapeutic environments"

Welsh Advisory Board

The MHC Wales Advisory Board was established at the end of 2008 to provide objective input to the clinical and corporate governance process adopted by the senior management team of MHC (UK) Ltd.

The Board comprises of 9 members of whom 6 are non MHC employees each of whom have diverse backgrounds that include academia, Politics, law enforcement, public relations and the voluntary sector experience. The 3 MHC employees who are members are the Managing Director, Director of Governance and the Manager responsible for overseeing the relationship with the external advocacy service.

Whilst the role of the Advisory Board is diverse the primary function is to ensure that MHC adopts high standards of corporate and clinical governance whilst also focusing on ensuring that the views of service users, patients and staff are heard and that this is incorporated into the development of services in the future.

In order to achieve this 2 of the Advisory Board members have recently become Lay Visitors and are now visiting services on a regular basis and reporting back to Board.

It is intended that the Advisory Board will produce a yearly report detailing their activities and individual areas of involvement and this will be made available on the MHC website.
