Training 1 Our greatest asset is our staff

MHC is committed to, and prides itself on, providing the best possible quality care for all service users. This is a bespoke service, tailored to the needs and wants, of the individual.

It would be impossible to provide this level of service without the hard work and dedication of its employees.

Providing this standard of service means attracting and retaining the highest quality staff, but we know that recruiting the best people is in itself not enough. We also understand that the training and development of our staff is key to maintaining the level of service that we know our service users deserve and expect.

The breadth and depth of the training MHC provides is an essential part of ensuring its staff are fully equiped with the skills they will need in managing some of the most challenging behaviours seen outside of secure services.

All services provided by MHC are designed around the individual clients. This individuality is reflected in the tailored training provided for our staff.

We believe that the whole work experience should be satifying, fulfilling and enjoyable. We believe in honesty, commitment and laughter and, when these qualities are combined with education, work experience, life skills and our ongoing training and development, a dynamic working relationship is formed which we nurture and value.

INDUCTION

Our committment to support staff starts with an intensive induction programme during the first two weeks of employment. This follows the Learning Disability Award Framework (LDAF) and fully meets the needs of the Care Standards Act 2000.

We continue to provide them with training and development programmes, not just to ensure that they are continuously improving their skills within their crucial role, but also to best equip them to take advantage of the various career opportunities within MHC.

MANAGEMENT TRAINING

We recognise that our staff play an integral part in the residents' and patients' welfare, progress and quality of life.

We, therefore, review the scope and quality of management skills and source and implement the most appropriate training.
