LocationPlas Coch Independent Hospital is located on the outskirts of the picturesque city of St Asaph which lies on the banks of the River Elwy.
St Asaph is within easy access to the A55 expressway and is within easy reach of the coastal resorts, Chester and the Snowdonia National Park.
The Grade II listed residence is set within its own extensive grounds allowing the patients plenty of space and opportunities for outdoor activities.
Plas Coch Independent Hospital is a specialised dedicated female only service, registered to admit females with a primary diagnosis of enduring mental health problems such as borderline personality disorder and treatment-resisitive mental illness.
A significant majority of our patients suffering from complex psychological difficulties also report a history of pyschological trauma.
They may also have associated disorders such as self injurious behaviour, substance misuse, eating disorder and borderline to mild learning disabilities.
In addition, some may have a forensic history and may be detained under provisions of the Mental Health Act.
Plas Coch provides a gender sensitive individually tailored programme of care based initially around the pre-admission assessment procedure.
All admissions undergo a robust 13 week assessment period which includes care review meetings and the formulation of care objectives. At the end of this period, a comprehensive care pathway is produced covering all aspects of treatment and rehabilitation with defined objectives and outcomes.
During the rehabilitation process, support is provided to enable patients to reach their optimum level of confidence, learning and skills needed for more independent living.
