Learning Disability Today Manchester has firmly established itself as the largest, most comprehensive and accessible event in the learning disability calendar in the north of England. This one-day event, comprising a full and comprehensive seminar programme and a large exhibition, will provide a unique opportunity for learning disability professionals, service users and family carers, and those interested in joining the preofession to come together to debate the big issues, share best practice and network.
The seminar "An overview of mental health provision for prisoners in HMP Altcourse and through care back to their home community" is to be held on Monday 21st July 2008 at the Wrexham Medical Institute Lecture Theatre, Wrexham at 2pm - 4pm.
The seminar will be presented by Mr David Parry, Clinical Manager, Mental Health In-Reach Service, HMP Altcourse.
Clwyd Ward at New Hall Independent Hospital in Ruabon, Wrexham has been redeveloped into an eight bed Intensive Nursing Support Ward.
The new ward at the male-only hospital, which is registered to admit adults with a functional mental illness and mild learning disability, is a locked door service.

The Cedar Activity Centre was opened in January 2007 and is successfully managed by Nicole Mitchell. The aim of the centre is to offer a wide variety of easily adapted, socially inclusive, fun activities on and off Highfield Park.
Coed Bach is a purpose built Occupational Therapy Centre which was officially opened by Eleanor Burnham, AM in January 2007.
