It provides a highly specialist and valuable service specifically aimed at adults whose behaviours have challenged other services to the point of breakdown

The Service and Staffing Team

Due to the highly challenging nature of the client group, staffing ratios at Rockfield House are much higher than would normally be seen in mainstream services.

The aim of Rockfield House is to provide 24 hour support to service users, creating a stable environment in which challenging behaviours can be addressed and service users are supported to take controlled risks to further their development. This leads to an improvement in their self-image, helps to increase their confidence and teaches them the necessary social skills required for normal living.

All service users have individual plans combining both areas of recreational and therapeutic input, as well as a daily programme of activity and are encouraged to make decisions for themselves within their assessed capacity. Integration into the local community is a fundamental part of each service users’ care plan and risk management strategies. We utilise all available skills and service models to progress service users towards achieving a more independent lifestyle.

The staff team are trained to an exceptionally high level to support and manage complex behaviours that may be presented from service users. They are innovative and forward-thinking in their approach to managing often very difficult needs.

The staff team have a positive approach to supporting service users in developing their social, educational and daily living skills. This leads to much greater levels of independence and autonomy which, in many cases, will enable service users to return to his/her own community. The ultimate goal of everything the staff team do at Rockfield House is to move service users, at their own pace, as close to independent living as their own abilities will allow.
